Nobody should have to work hard on Labor Day, let alone slave over a hot stove or grill to prepare food for family and friends!
Instead, make one easy dish and turn to your local deli for the sides. This slow cooker barbeque is perfect for a Labor Day feast:
Slow Cooker Barbeque
4 pounds baby back ribs
2 cups ketchup
1 cup chili sauce
1/2 brown sugar, packed
4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons each dried oregano and Worcestershire sauce
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Season the ribs with salt and pepper and place them in a shallow baking pan. Brown them in the oven for 15 minutes, then turn them over and brown for another 15 minutes or so.
Drain off the fat and place the ribs in a slow cooker. Mix the remaining ingredients and season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Pour the sauce over the ribs and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until tender.
As for the rest of the meal: Pick up some coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread and a watermelon when you buy the barbeque fixings, and the meal is complete!
