Everybody gives babies and their moms-to-be presents at shower events, but what about poor dad? He’s going to be the one driving to the hospital and either assisting with the birth or waiting while someone else does. He’s also the one family members expect to call when the baby is born.
Help him during this time by assembling things he’ll need. A prepaid phone card, a camera and extra film, a list of family members phone numbers, a stopwatch for timing contractions and a few snacks are all good items to include. Pack the assembled dad kit into a small travel pouch.
Other thoughtful gifts that include dad are already paid for household cleaning and gardening help for the hectic first few weeks or months following the baby’s arrival. A scrapbook already partially filled with family photos inserted with double-sided archival tape is another great gift, as is a custom CD of lullabies.
Yes, diapers, baby clothes, blankets and other nursery items are important. But just as important are those loving gifts that include dad!
