Got an old drawer from a desk or makeup table lying around doing nothing? Put it to work (and good use) by turning it into a message board!
Unless you’ve got a really deep space over which to hang a message board—say a hefty chest of drawers or table in your front hall—a comparatively shallow drawer will work best for this project.
To begin, decide on the color scheme you want to use. Hanging a drawer painted a shiny rich, dark green or black on a light, neutrally colored wall will make it more dramatic. The same is true of hanging a drawer stained or painted in a light hue against a dark background.
Once the frame of the drawer is painted, choose a background pattern for the inside in a palette and pattern you find pleasing. You can use fabric or wallpaper.
Cut your chosen background to fit the bottom of the drawer and use fabric glue or wallpaper paste to secure it to the inside of the drawer and allow it to dry.
Secure the back of the drawer to the wall using plastic bolt or screw wall anchors and steel bolts with washers or screws.
Then, buy some decorative thumbtacks or pins for the messages, cards or other things you want to display, pin them up and you’re done!
