It’s all too easy to forget what’s in your jewelry box, especially when you’re getting dressed in a hurry. Then, when you get to where you’re going, you realize that a certain necklace or brooch left at home would have been just the perfect touch for your outfit!
Instead of storing your jewelry out of sight, make a jewelry holder that can display your pretty beads and hang it next to your closet so you can see them while getting dressed.
This is simple enough to do. You’ll need a shadow box (available at most craft stores and sometimes found at thrift shops or yard sales) and a big bunch of cup hooks.
Visualize the shadow box as it will hang on your wall. Measure the undersides of the pieces at the tops of the various compartments and write down the measurements. Then choose the jewelry you want to display in those compartments and check to make sure it will fit easily.
Use a pencil to mark where the cup hooks need to go in order to accommodate the jewelry, being careful to keep all the marks at the same depth within the compartments. Use a screw starter or small drill to start the holes for the screws on the cup hooks, then screw the hooks into place.
Hang the shadow box on the wall, hang your jewelry from the cup hooks and you’re done!
