The French twist is an easy, sexy summer updo every woman with medium-to-long hair should try. Not only will a French twist keep your neck cooler, it can look professional at the office and casual at the beach.
Your hair should be at least shoulder length to wear this style well. Here’s how to create it:
Comb or brush your hair thoroughly to get rid of snarls. Smooth hair with your hands.
Pull hair into a loose ponytail with the hair framing your face as you want it to be framed, but don’t anchor the ponytail.
Hold the ponytail in your left hand and begin twisting it with your right hand. You’ll feel the base of the ponytail start to tighten against your scalp.
Point the ponytail upward and fold down the end, tucking the end into the space between your head and the ponytail base. As you tuck in the ends, begin rolling the ponytail to one side.
Keep pushing and rolling your hair, tucking in the ends, and use bobby pins or hair pins to hold the hair firmly in place, hiding the pins just beneath the roll, and you’re done.
If you want a casual look, pull a few strands of hair from the twist and let them hang. For dressy evening, tuck a pretty flower into the twist and enjoy!
